1. Hardware Selection and Integration Options
Before setup, determine which output method best suits your community's environment.
Output Methods
-
Ticket Printers: Cubigo integrates with Star Micronics thermal and impact printers using CloudPRNT technology, allowing for direct cloud-to-printer communication.
Thermal Printers: Recommended for front-of-house receipts as they are faster and quieter.
Impact Printers: Recommended for hot kitchens; thermal paper turns black when exposed to high heat.
Digital Integration (Fresh KDS): Replaces traditional printers with digital screens. It supports real-time updates for drafts, voided items, and resident preferences like allergies or diets.
Core Requirements
Networking: Devices connect to the network via Ethernet or compatible Wi-Fi dongles.
MAC Address: A unique identifier required for Cubigo to enable printing.
2. Printer Installation & Configuration
Follow these steps to bring a new Star Micronics printer online.
Physical Setup
Placement: Place on a steady surface and connect power and Ethernet cables.
Paper Loading: Install the paper roll so it rolls toward you.
Identify IP: Power off, hold Feed, and power back on until the third slip shows the MAC and IP address.
Software Configuration
-
Access Utility: Browse to the IP and log in with
root/public. Wireless: Connect to Wi-Fi under Configuration > Wireless Network.
CloudPRNT Setup: Enable CloudPRNT and enter the Server URL:
https://starcloudprint.cubigo.com/api/starcloud/.
3. Operational Troubleshooting
Use these indicators to resolve common service disruptions.
Understanding POS Tickets
Tickets include two critical timestamps:
Top Time: When residents were seated.
Bottom Time: When the order was created.
Common Error Solutions
| Issue | Potential Cause | Resolution |
|---|---|---|
| Time is off by hours | Incorrect User Settings | Check the staff member's timezone in User Management. |
| Printer Red Light (Flashing) | Recoverable Error | Check for Cover open, Paper out, or Head high temperature. |
| Unrecoverable Error | Hardware Failure | Restart device; if Power is OFF and Error flashes, check supply or cutter. |
| Swap/Move Printer | MAC Conflict | Do not swap printers without notifying Cubigo Support to update MAC settings. |
