This guide will walk you through how to find, add, and manage modifier groups such as bread types, drink preferences, or toppings. It covers everything from updating existing groups to creating new ones so your dining items reflect the choices your community needs.
Access the Modifiers Grid
To locate the modifiers grid in your community’s back office:
- Go to the Back Office panel
- Click on Dining
- Select Settings
You’ll land on the Modifiers Grid, which displays a list of active and inactive modifier groups and their associated modifier options.
What You’ll See in the Modifiers Grid
-
Each modifier group (like "Bread Options" or "Coffee Type") is listed with:
- Its status (Active/Inactive)
- A code used for dining import templates
- A list of individual modifier options within the group (e.g., Wheat, Sourdough, Rye, White)
-
Use the search bar to quickly find specific modifier groups by name or code.
-
Use filters to toggle between Active and Inactive groups.
Adding a New Modifier Group
To create a new modifier group:
- Click “Add modifier group” in the top-right corner of the grid.
- Fill in the required fields marked with asterisks:
- Name (e.g., Bread)
- Code (e.g., BRD)
You can save the group now or continue to add options below it.
Adding Modifier Options
- Click “+ Add option” to add individual choices (e.g., “Wheat Bread,” “Rye Bread”).
- To remove an option, click Delete next to it.
- To reorder options, press and hold the hamburger icon (≡) and drag to the desired position.
Example: You may want "Regular Coffee" to appear above "Decaf Coffee" in a group called “Coffee Options.”
Managing Active/Inactive Status
- To temporarily remove a modifier option (e.g., Oatmeal Cookies), switch its status from Active to Inactive.
- Use the “Show only active options” filter to focus on what’s currently in use.
- Inactive options can be reactivated anytime by adjusting their status.
Choice Settings
Choice settings let you control how many options must or can be selected when placing an order.
You can:
- Set a minimum number of required selections (e.g., Must choose 1 bread for a sandwich)
- Limit the maximum number of selections (e.g., Only 1 type of bread can be chosen)
Example 1:
For a sandwich bread group:
Min choices: 1
Max choices: 1
→ Forces selection of a single bread type
Example 2:
For a burger toppings group:
Min choices: 0
Max choices: 4
→ Allows more flexibility with no required selections
Saving & Reordering Modifier Groups
- After configuring your group and options, click Save.
- You’ll return to the Modifiers Grid, where your new group appears at the bottom (or on the next page if there are multiple).
Changing the Order of Modifier Groups
To change how modifier groups appear when dining items are ordered:
- Press and hold the hamburger icon (≡) next to a group.
- Drag the group to a new position in the list.
Example:
If “Bread Options” should appear before “Cheese Options” when customizing a sandwich, move it higher in the list.
A confirmation message ("Rank is updated") will appear in the bottom right corner when the change is successful.
