*Reminder: Our VMS solution requires Brother DK-1202 labels. We encourage you to purchase these labels prior to setup.
Initial Configuration
- Insert Label: Begin by inserting a Brother DK-1202 label into the printer according to the instructions provided with the printer.
- Power Connection: Connect the power adapter to the printer and then plug it into a power source. Power on the printer using the power button.
- Language, Date, and Time Setup: Use the [▲], [▼], and [OK] buttons on the printer's control panel to set the language, date, and time as per your preferences.

Disable Auto Power Off:
- Press the [Menu] button to access the printer's settings.
- Navigate using the [▲] and [▼] buttons until you reach the 'Settings' option, then press [OK].
- Find the 'Auto Power Off' option using the [▲] and [▼] buttons, then press [OK].
- Select 'Adapter' when prompted, then press [OK].
- Use the [▲] and [▼] buttons to choose the 'Off' option, then press [OK] to confirm.
Obtain IP Address

Access Printer Menu:
- Use the [▲] and [▼] buttons to navigate to Menu > Information > Print Configuration > All > Start in the settings menu. Press [OK].

Print Configuration:
- Nine slips of paper will print. On the seventh slip, locate the section labeled "IP Address". This will display the IP address of your printer. You can discard the other slips that print out.

Note the IP Address:
- Beside "IP Address," you’ll find a series of numbers separated by periods. For example: 192.168.1.44 or 10.0.1.23. This is the IP address for your Brother printer.
- Please share this IP address with your Project Manager at Cubigo.

Access Printer Web Interface:
- Open a web browser on your computer and enter the printer’s IP address (e.g., http://192.168.1.XXX) in the address bar.

Verify Connection:
- If you see the Brother QL-820NWB web interface, you have successfully accessed the printer. You can now proceed with the next step or configure additional settings as needed.
Select Wireless Network*
- Prepare your Network Information: Make sure you have the Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password handy.
- Access WLAN Menu: Press the [Menu] button, then use the [▼] button to select the [WLAN] menu. Press [OK] to confirm.
- Turn on WLAN: In the WLAN menu, select WLAN On/Off using the [▼] button and press [OK]. Choose [On] using the [▲] and [▼] buttons and press [OK] to enable.
- Navigate to Manual Wi-Fi Setup: Once WLAN is enabled, press the [:leftwards_arrow_with_hook:] button to go back. Within the WLAN menu, select WLAN > Infra Manual Setting and press [OK].
- Select Wi-Fi Network: The printer will search for available Wi-Fi networks. Use the [▲] and [▼] buttons to scroll through the list, then press [OK] to select your preferred Wi-Fi network. The Brother printer needs to be on the same wireless network as the iPad.
- Enter Password: Use the [▲] and [▼] buttons to enter your Wi-Fi password. Scroll through characters and press [OK] to confirm each character.
- Confirmation: Once the password is entered, the screen should display 'Connected!' to confirm successful connection. Press the [↩] button to return to the main screen.
- Verify Connection: Confirm that the Wi-Fi symbol appears solid in the top right corner of the screen, indicating a successful Wi-Fi connection.
Enable Device Settings
- Infrastructure mode - must be enabled
- Press Menu, navigate to WLAN
- Select Network Mode
- Enable Infrastructure Mode
- Press Menu, navigate to WLAN
- Bluetooth - must be disabled
- Press Menu, navigate to Bluetooth
- Select Off to disable Bluetooth
- Press Menu, navigate to Bluetooth
- Template mode - must be disabled
- Press Menu, navigate to Template
- Select Off to disable Template mode
- Press Menu, navigate to Template
- The Brother printer needs to be on the 'home screen' which just shows date/time to connect with the iPad for badge printing
iPad Settings
Wifi
The Brother Printer and VMS iPad need to be on the same wifi network to communicate with one another effectively.
Allow Local Network Access
The Cubigo Visit App must be allowed to access the local network. To confirm this setting:
- Open the Settings app on your iPad
- Search for Cubigo Visit
- Click on the app
- Ensure that "Local Network" is enabled
Camera Access
- Select settings --> Cubigo Visit
- Ensure 'Allow Cubigo Visit to access Camera' is toggled on
